WHAT IS A SERVE TEAM
Our Serve Teams first seek to meet some type of physical need of people, then use the opportunities that God provides in those moments to share the Gospel. No matter which Serve Team you are on or where your team serves, that is WGO’s goal: to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who don’t know Him, and to encourage those who do.
There are 3 types of Serve Teams: Medical, Construction, and Outreach
- Medical teams will include some medical professionals. We need physicians, dentists, optometrists, chiropractors, nurses, physician assistants and other trained medical personnel, although this is not a requirement to be on a medical team. Most team members may not have medical training, but serve as support people in the areas of optical, dental, pharmacy, evangelism and children’s hair washing.
- Construction teams may include some professionals, although this is not a requirement. The jobs of each construction team will be tailored to fit the skill level of the team.
- Outreach teams “reach out” to the community in some way, holding a VBS type of event for neighborhood children, or repairing a community building, or whatever need can be met by the team as determined by the WGO staff.
In Honduras, WGO has developed relationships with more than 250 local Christian churches in the Tegucigalpa area. In Belize, WGO has started building relationships with churches in the Belmopan area.
On the average, Serve Teams consists of 10-35 people who stay for one week, each evening “coming home” to WGO property, and going out into the community during the day, accompanied by WGO staff.
Teams come year round. If you sign up as an individual, WGO will assign you to a team on a week that you are available. If you have a group interested in serving together, WGO will assign your group to a mutually available week.

LEAD A SERVE TEAM
Since the founding of World Gospel Outreach, about 10,000 volunteers have journeyed to Honduras to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Hondurans.WGO welcomes and supports groups of up to 35 members to come on our Serve Teams in Honduras, and now also in Belize. Each of these teams needs a capable and caring leader.

World Gospel Outreach seeks mature, grounded individuals to lead teams for a week-long experience of sacrifice and service to the poor. Leaders are encouraged to recruit team members from their church and their circle of influence.
WGO staff communicates with team leaders via phone and email, supporting them with a packet of needed information, helpful hints for preparing the team and a timeline for organizing the preparation for a successful short term mission trip.
We are looking for Serve Team Leaders who:
•are mature and grounded in their Christian faith
•are committed to and involved in a sound, evangelical church
•have an ability to organize and lead youth and adults
•have a passion for the ministry of World Gospel Outreach
•will take responsibility for gathering donations of team supplies
